Starch Biosynthesis in Corn Kernel
Description
This figure describes the starch biosynthesis in maize endosperm. Red arrows show the conventional biosynthesis of starch: glucose-1-phosphate (G1P) or is converted to ADP glucose (ADPG), which is transported into the amyloplast and polymerized into starch. Black arrows show the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway, which provides NADPH and pentose sugars for starch synthesis.
